It’s no longer just you anymore. Well I mean it hasn’t been for a good 8 months now but at some point within the next 10 days or so your brother will be here with us in the flesh and he won’t just be in mummy’s tummy anymore.

Not entirely sure how this is going to affect you. Seeing you with your younger cousins I think you will care for and most likely look after your brother whilst also enjoying having someone to play with and boss around (until you get to the age where you just want to kill each other). But you will no longer be the sole focus of attention and that will have an impact. I can’t remember a life before your Uncle was born. I know in the first 15 months of my life I had a lot of attention similar to what you have had. Obviously it all shaped me to be who I am today but I can honestly say that I have never not loved and cared for your uncles and I’m sure you will be no different with your brother. I guess what I’m trying to say is that there’s no reason for this to be a negative impact on your world.

Just know that even though you will have a little less attention from everyone and have your first lessons in responsibility and being an elder trust me when I say you will never be loved any less than you have before. You have brought joy, sunshine and love to my world in a way that I have never experienced before. Don’t ever doubt it.

So while it is still all about you let me say this Maya Serena Roye, you are magical. You bring light and joy to everyone around you with your smile, eyes and spirit. Everyday I am honoured and feel privileged to have been given the responsibility of being your Father and I will always do my best for you. Thank you for being my daughter.
